Egg Producer of the Year

Alberta’s 2023 Producer of the Year is Kings Lake Colony!

The 2023 honourable mention was awarded to Springside Colony & Hutterian Brethren Church of Hughendon.

Egg Farmers of Alberta’s Producer of the Year award, sponsored by the Royal Bank of Canada, recognizes a registered egg farmer in Alberta who best exemplifies leading industry practices. To make the selection fair, the decision is made strictly on award criteria. Since the egg industry is changing fast, and the goal is for this award to remain a reflection of leading practices, the award criteria is revisited from time to time. Together with the Production Management Committee, the award criteria was reviewed and changes were adopted for the 2015 award.

Producer of the Year Criteria:

• Score 100% on the Start Clean – Stay Clean^® food safety program for 2 or more years in a row
• Score 100% on the Animal Care Program for 2 or more years in a row
• Achieve a score of 90% or higher in Producer Environmental Egg Program for 2 or more years in a row
• Achieve a score of 60% or more on EFA’s Farm Safety Assessment
• Has not won the award in the last 3 years
• EFA Board members are not eligible
• Be in good standing with the Board
