I have been managing our pullet and layer barns since 2018, after helping in the barns for a few years before that. (6 years, if we are just entering the number that has to be updated each summer)
Our farm has been egg farming since the colony was established in 1978. I am a proud 3rd generation egg farmer.
After helping in the egg barn for several years, I was voted to become the colony’s egg manager after the previous egg manager retired.
It means that I have the privilege of providing safe, healthy, fresh, affordable eggs to Albertans.
I enjoy being able to raise laying hens. It is a big responsibility, but I take pride in providing quality care and a healthy environment for my birds.
We have an enriched hen housing system.
We raise white Lohmann and Dekalb hens.
We produce standard white eggs.
We have a heard of dairy cows and grow a variety of crops such as wheat, barley, canola, peas, and lentils.
I am honored and thrilled to have the trust of Albertans to provide them with safe, fresh, high-quality eggs.
All egg farmers in Alberta and across Canada work hard every day to provide safe, fresh, nutritious eggs. Those eggs come from laying hens that are well cared for, on a farm that considers our environmental impacts and how we can be more sustainable in our farming practices.
