MEET AN EGG FARMER

Alberta’s egg farmers are dedicated to providing their birds with the highest quality of care possible. Agriculture is a way of life for these families—their livelihoods depend on it. The farm families that bring you eggs are committed to producing safe, fresh eggs using environmentally responsible practices.

All registered egg farms in Alberta are Egg Quality Assurance™ (EQA™) certified, meaning they’re produced according to strict food safety and animal welfare standards, which include on-farm inspections and third-party audits. Environmental stewardship is important to Alberta’s farm families to ensure Alberta’s egg industry will be sustainable for generations. The Producer Environmental Egg Program (PEEP) helps farmers understand best practices and take steps to reduce their environmental footprint. Launched by Egg Farmers of Alberta in 2014, PEEP has been supporting innovation and continuous improvement in Alberta’s egg farms and will continue to drive forward change for environmental sustainability.
