Egg Farmers of Alberta (EFA) recognizes that it is vital to the long-term sustainability of the egg industry that new farmers and new investments are encouraged.  The New Entrant Program (NEP) was established in order to assist individuals and families who want to own and operate an egg farm in Alberta, by alleviating some of the producer’s start-up costs.  NEP quota is issued at no cost to the successful applicant(s).

“On behalf of the EFA Board, I would like to congratulate the successful applicants of EFA’s New Entrant Program.  We are excited to welcome new producers into our industry.  Thank you to all who applied.” – Susan Schafers, Chair, EFA Board of Directors.

The review committee was comprised of John Hofer (EFA Director), John Mandel (Alberta egg producer), Tom Sugimoto (EFA’s Legal Council), Susan Gal (EFA General Manager) and Christina Robinson (EFA Producer Services Manager).  The committee identified 40 candidates, who were all included in the draw for the seven available lots of quota.

“We are so excited to welcome new producers to the industry!” – Susan Gal, General Manager, EFA

Egg Farmers of Alberta represents more than 150 egg farming families in Alberta.  EFA works to ensure that there is a sustainable egg industry for our farmers to operate in, while providing Albertans with a stable supply of high quality, fresh, locally produced eggs.  Additional information about the NEP is available on the EFA website.
