Susan Gal

My name is Susan Gal, and I am EFA’s General Manager.

I was drawn to EFA because the Office Manager job posting seemed as though it was written just for me, as I had all the qualifications and expertise they were looking for.  For the first seven years I learned everything I could about the egg industry, which served me well as preparation for assuming the role of GM in 1997.  I have been with EFA since January 1990!

Originally from Lethbridge, Alberta, I am married and have two Cocker Spaniels. My many interests outside of work include golfing, cooking, exercising and travelling to Mexico.

Since I’ve been with EFA for so long, I have several wonderful memories. The best and most rewarding times for me are always when I can see that our efforts have helped people succeed, whether it’s an egg farmer, Director or staff member.

I feel EFA is successful because of people who are passionate and committed to positively impacting this industry. Alberta egg farmers have a desire to be proactive and lead the industry, in a manner that works on farm, prior to having regulations imposed on them. The evolution and adoption of leading best practices will help ensure the egg industry is sustainable. As I look ahead to the future for EFA, there is uncertainty and change when it comes to hen housing, and continued pressure on the industry to meet societal expectations. I am confident that as always, we will work together to find solutions that make sense for egg farmers.
