Alberta Egg Farmers Celebrate New Code of Practice

March 27, 2017 (Calgary, AB) – Egg Farmers of Alberta (EFA) congratulates the National Farm Animal Care Council (NFACC) on the release of the revised Code of Practice for the Care and Handling of Layers. The Code is the foundation for the Canadian egg industry’s animal welfare standards, and informs enhancements to the national Animal Care Program.   This tremendous achievement demonstrates the importance and effectiveness of NFACC’s multi-stakeholder, consensus-based approach.

Egg Farmers of Alberta applauds NFACC and supports the Code Development Committee. EFA firmly believes that the new Code of Practice, which is the result of a rigorous and scientifically verified four year process, represents a significant step forward on the path towards building a sustainable Canadian egg industry.
