Egg Farmers Give Back

To say 2020 has been a year like no other would be an understatement, as people around the world have been significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Closer to home, throughout Alberta and across Canada, the pandemic has profoundly affected individuals, families, and businesses in all sectors.

Egg Farmers of Alberta would like to thank Albertans for their ongoing support of local food and local farmers. EFA would also like to thank Alberta’s more than 170 egg farming families for not only continuing to provide fresh, local eggs, but also for stepping up this past year to increase EFA’s donations to local charities. For the past several years, EFA has been proud and honored to be partners of both Food Banks Alberta and Breakfast Club of Canada. With so many more Albertans relying on charitable organizations like these as a result of the pandemic, it was important for egg farmers to increase our involvement so that more families would have access to a warm, nutritious and delicious meal. EFA’s egg donation increased by over 30% this year, and we are already looking ahead to continue our support for both incredibly worthwhile groups next year.

Breakfast Club of Canada | Grow Healthy Students

Breakfast Club of Canada (BCC) was founded in 1994 and is passionate about children’s health, wellness and academic success. BCC now runs a Canada-wide network of school breakfast programs, making a difference in the lives of more than 1 million young Canadians who are at risk of starting their day on an empty stomach.

BCC Alberta stats:

  • 151 active clubs (140 more schools on waiting list)
  • 11,242 students served daily
  • 1,854,930 breakfasts served annually

Food Banks Alberta – Lead.Feed.Share

Food Banks Alberta (FBA) is dedicated to strengthening the impact of food banks by creating new opportunities, increasing knowledge, providing resources, and delivering innovative programs. FBA now coordinates a province-wide network of almost 100 food banks, putting food on the table for thousands of Albertans in need.

Alberta egg farmers are dedicated to giving back to their local community, everywhere that egg farmers operate across the province, as evidenced by the EFA Board of Directors adopting Healthy Communities as one of their four key strategic pillars. EFA and the farming families we represent are all proud to partner with organizations like Food Banks Alberta and Breakfast Club of Canada to support Albertans in need, especially in challenging times like we are all facing as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. EFA encourages everybody to support these and other charitable programs in their own community!
