EFA’s Stampede Blog

Another year of stampeding has come to an end, but we’d like to thank everyone who came out and stopped by our booth at the Calgary Stampede!  Over those 10 eggcellent days we had thousands of visitors, who learned lots about egg farming and Alberta’s egg industry, asked all sorts of questions about eggs and egg farming, and participated in our #EGGspressYourself Twitter contest!

Thanks again for helping to make the 2015 Calgary Stampede a memorable one!

EFA at Stampede

Our interactive and educational You be the Farmer booth is located in the Agrium Western Event Centre.  You can learn all about egg farming in Alberta, as well as the journey of the egg from the farm to the grocery store, and eventually to your plate.  With information ranging from hen housing to the different types of eggs that are available at your favorite grocery store across Alberta, there’s something for everyone!

You can talk to registered dieticians, nutritionists and home economists, to learn more about egg nutrition and egg recipes.  Most days, there’ll even be a genuine Alberta egg farmer at the booth, who would be pleased to talk about everything that goes into providing their fellow Albertans with fresh, locally produced eggs.

We are also running a contest on Twitter and through our Facebook page.  All you need to do is visit our booth and take a selfie in front of our egg barn backdrop, then post it to EFA’s Facebook page or share it on Twitter – don’t forget to use #EGGspressYourself or mention @EFA_AB_Eggs in your post!

Egg farmer Mike was proud to share his story, and the story of all of Alberta’s proud, passionate egg farmers!  He talked to hundreds of visitors and learned as much from them, as they did from him.

Egg farmer John spent the day engaging with consumers and answering questions about everything he has to do as an egg farmer, to ensure the hens are well cared for and the eggs are safe and meet Canadian Grade-A quality standards!

A couple of farmers – Mike and Jack – were at the booth to answer questions about eggs and egg farming!  Jade and Beth are EFA eggsperts who are at the booth throughout Stampede, and are always eager and enthusiastic to talk about eggs!

Egg farmer Paul was at the booth, where he enjoyed interacting with the public and answering all sorts of questions about egg farming!

If you have any questions about eggs or egg farming, you can visit our booth, check out the FAQs on our website, or submit a question on our Ask an Egg Farmer page!

Egg farmer Levi was on hand to answer consumer questions about eggs and egg farming, when he was honoured to welcome Thomas Mulcair, leader of the federal NDP party, to the Egg Farmers of Alberta booth!

We were thrilled to hear Mr. Mulcair reiterate the fact that the NDP party stands behind supply management and the Canadian farmers who operate under the uniquely Canadian system!
