Seasonal Chocolate Cookies

Ingredients
2/3 cup (150 mL) shortening1 /12 cups (375 mL) brown sugar
1 1/2 cups (375 mL) all purpose flour
1/3 cup (75 mL) unsweetened cocoa powder
2 large eggs
1 tbsp (15 mL) water
1 tsp (5 mL) vanilla
1 cup (250 mL) dark chocolate chips
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 F (180° C).
In a medium bowl, whisk flour and cocoa powder together. In a medium metal bowl, beat shortening, eggs, and sugar together until well combined. Using a wooden spoon, gradually mix flour mixture into wet ingredients. Stir in water and vanilla. Fold in chocolate chips. Roll cookies into 1 inch ( 2.5 cm) balls and place on a greased cookie sheet 1 inch (2.5 cm) apart. Bake in oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until darkened. Cool on a wire rack.
