Microwave Egg Express

Make eggs as fast as it takes to make toast.

Ingredients for 1 serving:

  • 2 mL butter or margarine (½ teaspoon)
  • 1 egg

Equipment kit:

  • microwave oven
  • custard cup or coffee cup
  • measuring spoons
  • fork
  • plastic wrap
  • oven mitts

Directions:

With adult supervision...
  1. In a small custard cup or coffee cup, microwave butter or margarine on High (100% power) for 15 seconds or until melted.
  2. Rotate cup to butter all sides.
  3. Break egg into cup. Pierce egg with fork.
  4. Cover with plastic wrap, with one corner pulled up to let air out.
  5. Microwave on Medium-High (70% power) for 35 to 45 seconds. The egg will still look uncooked, so let it stand for 1 to 2 minutes, still covered before you carefully – using the oven mitts - take it out of the microwave.
